9-Day / 8-Night Adventure Itinerary: From Ouarzazate to Fes via Desert & Atlas

Embark on an unforgettable 9-day private Morocco desert adventure from Ouarzazate to Fes, crossing remote desert landscapes, spectacular oases, and mountain regions. Travel through Lake Iriqui, Maharech Oasis, Ouzina, and Erg Ramlia before reaching Merzouga, where you’ll enjoy a sunset camel ride, desert camp, and several days to explore the Erg Chebbi dunes, nomads, and local culture.

Continue through Erfoud, the Tafilalet oases, Errachidia, Midelt, the Middle Atlas Mountains, Ifrane, and Azrou before arriving in Fes. This diverse journey combines off-road desert tracks, Sahara dunes, palm oases, mountains, cedar forests, and imperial-city culture, offering an authentic way to discover southern and central Morocco.

Day 1: Ouarzazate → Lake Iriqui – Mhamid El Ghizlane

Departure from Ouarzazate via the Draa Valley. Arrival at Lake Iriqui area between Mhamid El Ghizlane and Foum Zguid.
Night in a desert camp in the middle of the dunes.
1st night at Lake Iriqui Camp

Day 2: Lake Iriqui → Maharech Oasis – Sidi Ali

Adventure day through desert tracks. Discover the landscapes until we reach Maharech Oasis near Sidi Ali.
Night in the oasis surrounded by palm trees.
2nd night at Maharech Oasis

Day 3: Maharech Oasis → Merzouga via Ouzina & Erg Ramlia

Full desert day. We cross the Ouzina dunes and Erg Ramlia heading to the heart of the desert.
Arrival in Merzouga, camel ride at sunset and overnight in tents.
3rd night in Merzouga

Day 4: Full Day in Merzouga

Day to explore. Climb the dunes, visit nomads, do a 4×4 tour around Merzouga and take photos in Morocco’s biggest dunes.
4th night in Merzouga

Day 5: Third Day in Merzouga

Free day to enjoy the desert. Optional visits to Mifis mines, Khamlia village for Gnawa music, or just relax in the camp.
5th night in Merzouga

Day 6: Merzouga → Errachidia via Erfoud

Leave the dunes and drive via Erfoud to discover the Tafilalet oases and palm groves.
Arrival in Errachidia, capital of Drâa-Tafilalet region.
6th night in Errachidia

Day 7: Errachidia → Midelt via Atlas Mountains

Scenic drive through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Natural landscapes, cedar forests and mountain climate.
Arrival in Midelt, the “Apple Capital”.
7th night in Midelt

Day 8: Midelt → Fes via Ifrane & Azrou

Continue through “Switzerland of Morocco” Ifrane and the cedar forests of Azrou. Arrival in Fes, the imperial city.
8th night in Fes

Day 9: Fes – End of Trip

Final day to discover Fes Medina and the old city. Here ends our trip that combined desert, oases, mountains and imperial cities.
